How to play

Guess the WORD in 6 tries.

Words are spelled in Quikscript — an alphabet where every letter is one sound. Each guess must be a real word that is exactly 5 Quikscript letters long. Hit enter to submit.

Because Quikscript spells sounds rather than English letters, word lengths shift: BECAUSE is 7 English letters but only 5 in Quikscript.

Examples

The keyboard follows FriedOrange’s Quikscript layout. Each key carries two different letters — the small one above is what you get with Shift. A shifted key is a separate letter, not a capital: shift-t gives th, not a capital T.

Hold Shift (or tap the Shift key) and the shifted letters light up so you can see what you are about to type. Spell what the word sounds like, not how English writes it.

Spellings follow FriedOrange’s Quikscript books. Accents differ about vowels, so close variants are accepted too — o or aw in ACROSS will both be let through.

A new puzzle is available each day.
